MLB PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS: Jesse Spector | Ryan Fagan | Dodgers-Mets odds | Cardinals-Cubs odds

Dodgers vs. Mets predictions

— SN's Jesse Spector expects this series to be all about pitching, but gives the Mets the edge because of their offense. "If the pitchers all perform to their capability — and, yes, this year, Kershaw will — then it comes down to bounces here and there, hanging breaking balls from secondary relievers, bad calls and the like," he writes. More here .

— SN's Ryan Fagan sees the Mets using their starting pitching depth to overcome the Dodgers' one-two punch of Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke. "And what happens if the Mets somehow scratch out a 1-0 or 2-1 victory in Hollywood? Then they have their own movie star, Matt Harvey, set to pitch Game 3 at Citi Field, and they'd feel pretty good about their chances," he writes. More here

— According to The Linemakers, Vegas likes Kershaw and the Dodgers as big favorites. More details on the series odds here

Cardinals vs. Cubs predictions

— Spector sees the Cubs' hot play carrying into the NLDS. "The Cubs had the majors' best record after the All-Star break, five games better than their old rivals. That's because Chicago had a young lineup that got better as the season went on, with a team OPS 64 points higher in the second half to support already excellent pitching," he writes. More details

— Fagan thinks the biggest advantage for the Cardinals is that they only have to face Jake Arrieta once. "That's a big deal for the Cubs, because if Jon Lester can't bring home the opener for the Cubs (he has a 2.79 ERA vs. St. Louis this year), the series rests on the arms of Jason Hammel and Kyle Hendricks, who are much less imposing than Arrieta," he writes. More details .

— Vegas likes the Cubs despite St. Louis owning baseball's best regular-season record. More details here
