Former big league outfielder Gabe Kapler appears to be the front-runner to become the next manager of the Dodgers.

Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal tweeted "people is the industry have told me in the last 24 hours that they will be surprised if anyone but Gabe Kapler is the Dodgers' next manager.”

Kapler, who played 13 seasons with six teams, is the Dodgers current Director of Player Development. He was also a colleague of Rosenthal’s at Fox in 2013.

Don Mattingly and the Dodgers decided to part ways this week after their elimination in the NLDS against the Mets.

Kapler, 40, managed the Red Sox' Class A Greenville in 2007 and coached the Israeli national team at the World Baseball Classic in 2012.
