The Dodgers had a special guest for their Game 2 matchup against the NLCS, drawing inspiration not from a franchise icon or a noted luminary, but rather a limbless creature that slithered its way into the team's heart – and its dugout, too.
Cameras caught pitcher Brent Honeywell Jr. alerting his teammates to the presence of a serpent squirming across the stairwell separating Los Angeles' dugout and the playing field during Monday's matchup with the Mets.

The moment was an organic one, coming to fruition solely due to Mother Nature's wicked sorcery — and man's interference with the snake's natural habitat.

The reptile slalomed its way across the platform, looking a bit like Shohei Ohtani rambling down the base paths or Mookie Betts marauding around right field to pilfer would-be base hits.
For a moment, it looked like the snake would get a chance to make its way onto the diamond. A member of the Dodgers' backroom staff turned that dream to ashes, escorting the harmless reptile out of the stadium in a caravan of towels. The snake could have very well been designated for assignment.
