The show went on for the Padres and Dodgers on Friday while the ground beneath them shook. That's because there wasn't enough shaking go on to affect them.

The teams played through a 7.1-magnitude earthquake that was centered near Ridgecrest, Calif., about 140 miles northeast of Dodger Stadium, and felt in Las Vegas and Sacramento.

LA's Enrique Hernandez was batting in the bottom of the fourth inning against the San Diego's Eric Lauer at the time.

Hernandez had a simple reason for why he kept playing: He told SportsNet LA he didn't feel anything.

Added LA manager Dave Roberts: "We really couldn't feel it as much on the field as the people in the upper deck." (video via Gilbert Manzano of the Orange County Register).

Dodgers outfielder Alex Verdugo was in the dugout when the quake hit. He decided to, well, roll with it. "It’s not like I can tell the earth to stop moving," he told reporters, per Pedro Moura of The Athletic.

LA closer Kenley Jansen was in the home clubhouse and felt it. He called the episode "a scary moment," noting the large crowd on hand.

This was the second major earthquake in Southern California in as many days. A 6.4-magnitude quake Thursday was centered in about the same area as Friday's temblor.
