Well, that was close.

All players selected during the 2015 MLB Draft had to be signed by 5 p.m. ET on Friday, or the teams would lose their rights to those players and they'd go back into the pool for future drafts. As the clock rolled toward that deadline, No. 1 pick Dansby Swanson remained unsigned.

At 5:02 p.m., the Diamondbacks sent out the tweet Arizona fans had been waiting to see all day.

Apparently it took them a few minutes to get to Twitter. Just to make the fans in Arizona sweat a bit more?

The assigned slot value for the No. 1 pick was $8.6 million
