The Air Force apologized Tuesday to former Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter for an improper social media post by an active-duty airman.
The Tampa Bay Times said Jeter was issued a citation for boating in a restricted area on the Fourth of July near MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla. Jeter owns a home on Davis Islands, which is close to the base. It's unclear if Jeter was piloting the craft at the time of the citation.

A service member posted the citation along with a photo on Facebook.
"This action is totally inconsistent with Air Force values and the responsible Airman will face the appropriate disciplinary action," MacDill spokesman Terry Montrose said. "We sincerely apologize to Mr. Jeter for any inconvenience."
The citation carries a $250 fine.
