The injuries continue to mount for Mets third baseman David Wright, who said Monday that he's dealing with a herniated disk in his neck.

Wright has missed considerable time with injuries during his 13-year career, including 28 games last season after being diagnosed with spinal stenosis. He could spend time on the disabled list with the latest setback.

"I'm concerned about David Wright possibly going on the DL at some point," Mets manager Terry Collins said Monday, via MLB.com. "We won't know more until later today or tomorrow, but the condition he's been playing in and the condition he's in right now — yeah, I'm concerned about it."

Wright missed his third straight game Monday as the Mets got a 1-0 victory over the White Sox behind a strong pitching performance from Matt Harvey. Wright expects to have a better understanding of the medical plan after meeting with team doctors Tuesday.

"There are some other steps we can take," Wright said. "As far as medication goes, if I'm not seeing the relief that the doctors think I should see with the medication, there are some other things we can do to hopefully speed up the process."

Despite another setback for Wright, who is batting .226/.350/.438 with seven home runs and 14 RBIs this season, the 33-year-old doesn't believe he is an injury-prone ballplayer.

"It's frustrating," he said. "It's not anything that I can prevent from happening. I wish I could, but it's frustrating to have to watch the guys go out there (without me). It's something that I have to worry about other than my back, but I'm doing everything in my power to stay on the field."

Wilmer Flores and Ty Kelly will likely split time at third base until Wright returns. First baseman James Loney, who the Mets (29-21) acquired from the Padres on Saturday to fill the void left by Lucas Duda's injury (back), is expected to make his debut Tuesday against the White Sox.
