Citing constant body aches and pains he has experienced after 2,338 career games, Ortiz has maintained this season is his last.

Ortiz, who made his 10th All-Star appearance Tuesday, said in June he would love to play a couple more years but his constant feet ailments won't allow him. His success and popularity in the game is one of the many reasons why players and fans hope the 40-year-old reverses his decision.

"Unfortunately, when your body tells you it's enough, it's enough," Ortiz said.
Trout and the rest of Ortiz's fellow All-Stars saluted him as he was taken out of the game in the third inning, after drawing a walk against Marlins ace Jose Fernandez.
