Curt Schilling says he won't support Donald Trump after comments about John McCain image

Count former MLB pitcher and occasional Twitter firebrand Curt Schilling among those who think Donald Trump has gone too far.

Schilling, who apparently had been on the fence about the GOP presidential hopeful's candidacy, said Trump's comments Saturday criticizing Sen. John McCain's war record were enough for the six-time All-Star to drop any support he might've had for the development mogul's White House run.

Trump's comments have drawn widespread criticism, including from other Republican presidential hopefuls. McCain, the 2008 GOP presidential candidate, served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and spent almost six years as a prisoner of war.

“He’s not a war hero. He’s a war hero because he was captured," Trump said of McCain. "I like people who weren’t captured.”

Schilling's tweet touched off a back-and-forth with followers, some of whom disagreed with Schilling's assessment of Trump. A sampling:

Of course, Schilling is used to making news on Twitter. He touched off a debate over evolution last November and later tweeted that he was stopped by an airport bomb squad for having a fake grenade. Then in February, he went on the offensive after negative comments about his daughter, even threatening legal action

Say what you want about Schilling's opinions, but his life continues to be anything but boring.
