The Cubs have acquired outfielder Austin Jackson from the Mariners for a player to be named later and cash.

The Mariners will receive $210,000 for an international signing slot this year, according to MLB.com.

After recently losing outfielder Jorge Soler to injury, the Cubs decided to find a replacement outside the organization as they try to lock down an NL wild-card slot. Jackson comes in batting .274 with eight home runs in 108 games this season. He has six multi-hit games in his past nine starts, including three hits against the White Sox on Sunday.

Jackson, 28, is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, so the Mariners saw this as an opportunity to shop him before he left.

Jackson was traded to Seattle in 2014 as a part of the three-way deal involving David Price being sent to Detroit.
