Each night of the College World Series, we'll provide you with a recap of the day’s games and a look ahead to what’s next in Omaha.

The legend of TCU's Luken Baker is beginning to grow, as the freshman slugger once again homered in the postseason. This time it was a go-ahead, 3-run blast in the top of the ninth that gave the Horned Frogs (48-16) their third consecutive CWS opening-game win, a 5-3 victory over Big 12 rival Texas Tech.

Baker, named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year, now has six homers in his last 12 games after blasting a pitch from Red Raiders closer Robert Duggar just inside the left field foul pole.

TCU closer Durbin Feltman closed the door on the Red Raiders (47-19) hopes of a comeback with his ninth save of the season.

In the nightcap, Coastal Carolina continued its improbable postseason run with a 2-1 upset win over Florida. The Chanticleers, who swept LSU in the Super Regional to reach the CWS, relied on the dominant arm of Andrew Beckwith to secure their first ever CWS victory.

Beckwith, the Big South Pitcher of the Year fired a complete game, allowing one run on seven hits while striking out seven for his 13th win of the season. The Chanticleers join TCU, Oklahoma State and Arizona in the winners bracket while Florida, UC Santa Barbara, Miami and Texas Tech make up the losers.

Impact players

— TCU starter Jared Janczak became only the fifth pitcher in the last 30 years to strike out eight batters in less than five innings. He was scored with a no decision, giving up one run in 4 2/3 innings.

— Coastal Carolina slugger Zach Remillard's RBI triple in the sixth inning provided Beckwith with all the run support he would need. Remillard added an RBI double in the 2-for-4 performance.
