Cole Hamels trade rumors: Rangers, Phillies reportedly talking deal image

Cole Hamels wants rescuing from the Phillies, and the Rangers are interested in saving him.

According to Jon Morosi of Fox Sports, The Rangers and Phillies are "having ongoing dialogue about Hamels" and the 31-year-old pitcher would allow a trade to Texas.

SPECTOR: Here's how the Phillies should rebuild

Hamels is currently 5-5 with a 2.96 ERA with 103 strikeouts in 94 1/3 innings, but the Phillies (25-47) own the worst record in baseball and the left-hander wants to move to a competitive team.

The Rangers (37-33) are expected to get Derek Holland, Matt Harrison and Martin Perez back from injury at some point this season, but lack a true ace with Yu Darvish out for the year. Hamels would fill that void.

There are a multitude of teams looking to gain Hamels' services, including the Red Sox and Yankees, but the Rangers might be prepared to strike first.
