Indians infielder Chris Johnson missed two games over the weekend after what he believes to be a spider bite got infected.

Johnson told reporters he woke up at the team hotel Saturday morning in Minnesota with a small bite on his left hand he suspects was from a spider. He was treated at Target Field, but his hand was swollen on Sunday, so he received treatment at a Minneapolis hospital. The hand was wrapped and he was given antibiotics.

The former Braves infielder was traded to the Indians on Aug. 7 and has hit .429 with three doubles in 21 at-bats over six games. He's not expected to land on the disabled list but will be out of the lineup until the swelling goes down.

"I tried to get the swelling and infection out of there because I guess whatever bit me, it got infected," Johnson said, via The Associated Press. "Hoping the swelling goes down in a couple days and I can start swinging the bat again."
