The Orioles would like to re-sign Chris Davis, but the team isn't going to wait around for the slugger to make a decision, as the club has other issues to address in free agency.

Baltimore vice president Dan Duquette told CSN Baltimore at the team’s FanFest event Saturday that there’s no offer on the table for Davis "right now."

"I’m not exactly sure where that’s going to end up," Duquette said. "We’ve got to look at some other options for left-handed hitting, which we’re currently doing."

Duquette and owner Peter Angelos said they wanted Davis back after he led MLB in home runs for the second time in three seasons in Baltimore. However, the club did pick up Mark Trumbo and could sign a left-handed power bat in Pedro Alvarez while saving money to address their outfield needs with stars like Justin Upton and Alex Gordon still available.

It was reported at baseball's winter meetings that Davis had a seven-year, $150 million offer, but agent Scott Boras denied those numbers. Boras has often negotiated into January for massive contracts, but the Orioles called his bluff by pulling the contract.

Boras told the Baltimore Sun that "the dialogue is continuing with a number of teams, and Baltimore is one of them."

"Every deal has its own timing," Duquette said. "The timing is determined by a number of factors in the market. Sometimes you need patience. Sometimes you have to move in other directions."

"I’m not really sure what the club’s appetite is on a January deal. We’re going to proceed down some other tracks right now."

Davis batted .262/.361/.562 with 47 home runs, 117 RBIs and two stolen bases in 160 games last season, but also led MLB with 208 strikeouts.
