The Cubs and the city of Chicago are throwing a party Friday, and the timing worked out perfectly.

The parade and rally celebrating the Cubs' first World Series title in 108 years will be on a day Chicago Public Schools students already were scheduled to be out of school.

The parade is set to begin at 11 a.m. local time at Wrigley Field and make its way south to Grant Park, where a rally is scheduled to start at noon, the city announced.

The city initially had hoped to hold any potential Cubs celebration on Monday, but according to the Chicago Tribune, the team pushed back because of travel commitments for players and executives.

Speaking Thursday morning at an unrelated event, mayor Rahm Emanuel vowed to make it a memorable day for his city.

"Here's the thing: We're going to have a parade in Chicago that will stand the test of time," he said, via the Tribune. "It will be a parade that 108 years have waited for. It will be a parade and a celebration that all of Chicago for 108 years in their mind's eye, have been envisioning. We're going to make it a reality in the city of Chicago."

The celebration is expected to be televised nationally by MLB Network and WGN America.
