There’s no way around it — CC Sabathia hasn’t been very good for the Yankees this season.

Manager Joe Girardi is hoping a skipped start Sunday will help the veteran lefty, saying Sabathia is “working on some things.”

Just don’t bring it up to Sabathia.

“Don’t ask me what I’m working on,” Sabathia told reporters Friday, via the New York Post. “It is up to them. Whatever they think is best is the schedule that I’m following.”

Sabathia, 34, has thrown 95 innings thus far in 2015 — a solid number for a guy with a surgically repaired knee and elbow — but sports just a 3-8 record with a 5.59 ERA and 1.400 WHIP.

“It’s a break that I probably need, I guess. Take a step back, look at some things, try to be ready on Wednesday,” Sabathia said. “It’s good to get a break for my body, for sure.”

Ivan Nova will start in Sabathia’s place Sunday against the Rays.
