CC Sabathia leaves mound in 3rd inning with apparent injury image

CC Sabathia walked off the Yankee Stadium mound with two outs in the third inning Sunday, leaving the game with an apparent injury.

Even by the standards of the worst full season of his career, Sabathia wasn't himself in the early going against the Indians. He walked a season-high four batters in the 2 2/3 innings he pitched and also allowed a two-run homer to Carlos Santana in the first.

Sabathia's final pitch before departing was a 91 mph fastball for a strikeout of Yan Gomes.

The 35-year-old lefty is now carrying a 5.27 ERA and including Sunday's outing will have only one win in his last 12 starts. That doesn't tell the whole story, as he allowed two earned runs or fewer in three of those starts without getting a victory, but his performances have been uneven all season.
