Astros star Carlos Correa left Thursday's game in the fifth inning after he appeared to roll his left ankle while running out a ground ball.

Correa grounded to third for the second out of the fifth but hit the bag awkwardly and fell to the ground. He eventually got up and walked gingerly to the dugout with an Astros trainer and manager A.J. Hinch by his side. The team said after the game that X-rays were negative and Correa is day to day with a sprained ankle.

The 2015 American League Rookie of the Year left the game, with Jose Altuve sliding over to make his first major league appearance at shortstop and Tony Kemp came on to play second.

Any injury that would put Correa on the shelf for more than a few days would have Astros fans clamoring for a promotion for top prospect Alex Bregman, who has 12 home runs and a .981 OPS at Double-A Corpus Christi.
