The 2023 Serie del Caribe final is set, and it features the host country, Venezuela, taking on a nation that has become accustomed to finals appearances: the Dominican Republic.

The two teams advanced Thursday night, with the Dominican Republic taking down Mexico and Venezuela unseating defending champion Colombia in the semifinals. The Dominican Republic and Venezuela last played in a Caribbean Series final in 2020, when the Dominicans won 9-3 in Puerto Rico.

Venezuela will be looking to exact its revenge with players such as Oswaldo Arcia and Jose Rondon. Rondon had a huge semifinal against Colombia, driving in four runs in his team's 7-5 win. The Dominican Republic, meanwhile, has a face many MLB fans will recognize in Robinson Cano, who hits alongside journeyman Emilio Bonifacio at the top of the order. Cano had two hits and scored twice in the Dominicans' 8-3 semifinal triumph over Colombia.

This tournament has been a strong primer for the World Baseball Classic, and although the WBC will be showcasing many different faces from both of these countries, Friday's final will likewise feature two squads playing for national pride.

The final will be preceded by the third-place game between Mexico and Colombia at 1:30 p.m. ET.
