MLB PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS: Jesse Spector | Ryan Fagan | Cardinals-Cubs odds | Dodgers-Mets odds
Cardinals vs. Cubs predictions
— SN's Jesse Spector sees the teams splitting the first two games before Jake Arrieta carries the Cubs to a Game 3 and series victory. "Get the split, win with Arrieta, win one of the next two," he writes. More details.
— SN's Ryan Fagan thinks the Cardinals will continue to do what they've done all season: overcome any and all adversity and just win. "There are reasons to pick against the Cardinals, but that's been the case pretty much all season and they still wound up winning 100 games," he writes. More details.
— According to The Linemakers, Vegas sees the Jon Lester-John Lackey Game 1 matchup as a toss-up, but puts the rest of the series in the Cubs' favor. More details on the series odds here.
Dodgers vs. Mets predictions
— Spector thinks the Mets' improved lineup will be enough in what should be a low-scoring series. "The Dodgers' starters do have an edge, but the Mets have a better lineup — consider that New York was at the bottom of the majors in offense in the middle of the season, but finished above the National League average in runs per game, outscoring the Dodgers by a total of 16 runs for the full year," he writes. More details.
— Fagan thinks the Mets will not only keep up with a Dodgers' staff headlined by Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke, but outperform it over the course of the series. "But the two guys starting for the Mets, Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard, are more than capable of matching zeroes with the LA aces on any given night," he writes. More details.
— Vegas likes the Dodgers as the heavy favorite. More details here.
