Bryce Harper says Zack Greinke not 'very tough' despite scoreless streak image

Dodgers ace Zack Greinke hasn't allowed a run in a really, really long time — since June 13, to be exact. And after pushing his streak to 43 2/3 scoreless innings Sunday against the Nationals, no pitcher has been this flawless since Orel Hershiser tossed a record 59 consecutive zeros in 1988.

Bryce Harper isn't impressed. At least, he wasn't on Sunday, when Greinke went eight scoreless with 11 strikeouts in a 5-0 Dodgers win.

The Nationals slugger, who went 0 for 3 with two strikeouts and a walk, said as much after the game.

“I think he was OK. When you’re getting five to six inches off of the plate, you better win the game,” Harper said. “For me, I don’t think he was very tough. He’s a great pitcher, he does what he does, but when you’re getting six inches off the plate it’s pretty tough to face him.”

At 9-2 on the season with a 1.30 ERA — 79 points lower than second-best Max Scherzer — Greinke enters baseball's second half as the odds-on Cy Young favorite in the NL.

He's also sporting a 0.82 WHIP and a 117/21 K/BB ratio in 131 1/3 innings.
