Braves hire former slugger Chipper Jones to baseball operations image

Chipper Jones is back with the Braves.

The former Atlanta slugger was hired as a special assistant to baseball operations, the team announced Thursday . Jones will spend much of his time as a hitting instructor.

Jones, who said he was "honored to be back working with the Braves," had a career batting average of .303 and recorded 468 home runs, 1,623 RBIs and 2,726 total hits.
