For the Braves, the 2016 season has been and will continue to be a time to celebrate small victories. And moral victories. Any kind of victory, actually.

Of all the things that have gone wrong for Atlanta this season, catcher A.J. Pierzynski has had a particularly rough time of it behind the plate, having misplayed and/or dropped several seemingly routine pop-ups, throws and pitches in the team's first 41 games. That's why it's hard to blame the 39-year-old Pierzynski for giving a hearty mock celebration Friday night after he caught a routine, game-ending pop-up to close out the Braves' 7-1 win against the Phillies in Philadelphia.

Take a bow, A.J.

MORE: Every MLB team's greatest catcher of all time

Also worth celebrating Friday: The Braves, who earlier this season went more than two weeks without hitting a homer and generated countless stories on their long-ball deficiencies, hit at least one for the fifth straight game Friday.

That's progress, Braves fans.
