AL East rivals meet when the Blue Jays host the Rays on Friday night, as a part of Apple TV's "Friday Night Baseball" programming.

After an underwhelming start to their season, the Rays are playing significantly better baseball of late; through play on Wednesday, they had won eight of their last 12 games.

Third baseman Isaac Paredes (.302 AVG, 8 HR) has been their most consistent hitter, though Randy Arozarena (8 HR) and 2023 AL batting champion Yandy Diaz have begun to come around following slow starts.

The Blue Jays find themselves in the basement of the AL East amid a disappointing start to the season. Toronto has not won consecutive games this month.

Bo Bichette (.607 OPS) and George Springer (.572 OPS) have struggled at the dish, while the normally stalwart pitching staff has faltered. That includes Friday night's starter Chris Bassitt; the veteran right-hander has a 5.06 ERA through eight starts.

The two teams split a four-game series to open the 2024 MLB season.
