The Chicago White Sox made headlines on Thursday when they fired manager Pedro Grifol after compiling a dreadful 28-89 record.
Now at 90 losses, the White Sox have named Grady Sizemore as their interim manager and will continue searching for a long-term replacement.
According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, another name has emerged in the sweepstakes.
"DeMarlo Hale, Blue Jays associate manager, is a name to watch in the White Sox managerial search," Morosi tweeted. "Hale, born and raised in Chicago, is one of the longest tenured coaches in Major League Baseball, won a World Series ring in 2007, and served as acting manager for Cleveland in 2021."
Hale certainly has the credentials to be the next manager of the White Sox. He served alongside future Hall-of-Fame manager Terry Francona with the Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Guardians.
He is somebody that would instantly have the respect of the clubhouse in Chicago and could help expedite the rebuilding process.
The White Sox have fallen quite far since their American League Central title in 2021. They're on track to miss the postseason for the third consecutive year and don't seem to have a lot to look forward to.
But having a proven winner such as Hale could help them in the near future. His experience speaks for itself, and he has worked alongside some of the best managers in the history of the game.
We'll see if the White Sox decide to give Hale a chance to manage again.
