Best MLB prop bets today: SuperDraft player prop picks for Tuesday 8/15

*10x potential payout if users parlay all four correct picks

1. Yordan Alvarez, LF, Astros @ Marlins - OVER 1.5 bases

Despite owning an expected batting average of .289 this season (93rd percentile), Alvarez is amidst a mini-cold streak at the plate, hitting just .217 in August (10-of-46). As his elite xBA indicates, he's still hitting the ball hard but isn't getting the results. In Monday's 5-1 loss to the Marlins, Yordan failed to eclipse 1.5 total bases via hits, going one-for-three at the plate with a single.

Alvarez's fourth-inning lineout to first baseman Yuli Gurriel came off the bat at 111.5 mph with an xBA of .710. It was the hardest-hit ball of the game, but unfortunately for Alvarez, total base OVER bettors, a high xBA doesn't mean jack squat if it shows up as "in play, out" on the MLB At Bat app. We think Alvarez receives better fortune tonight in a plus-matchup against Johnny Cueto (0-3, 5.83 FIP, 2.33 HR/9), who's allowed five home runs in his past three starts. We're asking nicely, baseball gods.

2. Corey Seager, SS, Rangers vs. Angels - OVER 1.5 bases

If it weren't for Shohei Ohtani's utter brilliance, Seager would make a legit claim as the American League MVP. Most of his batted ball metrics sit near the top of the league, as he's done nothing but rake this season. Although Angels starter Lucas Giolito has held lefties to a .228 opponent batting average, at this point, Seager's essentially matchup-proof, boasting a .354 average against righthanders. Don't overthink it, Seager OVERs are the only way to approach betting on the superstar shortstop.

3. Matt Olson, 1B, Braves vs. Yankees - OVER 1.5 bases

Olson came through for us on Monday night, going OVER 1.5 bases with two singles in the Braves' 11-3 rout over the Yankees. We'll see if Atlanta can score in double-figures tonight, but it's unlikely their offense slows down with New York trotting out Luis Severino (2-7, 8.06 ERA, 2.54 HR/9). Sevy's struggled to retire lefthanders all season, allowing lefties to slash .373/.436/.701 in 134 at-bats this season. Don't expect Olson and the Bravos to slow down in a picture-perfect matchup.

4. Lucas Giolito, SP, Angels @ Rangers - UNDER 5 strikeouts

Giolito recorded his first win as an Angel in his most recent start against the Giants (6.0 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 7 K, 3 BB), but think he's in line for a rougher showing against a potent Rangers' offense (121 wRC+). Texas owns the 18th-lowest K rate this season (22.2 percent) while posting the fourth-lowest chase rate (26 percent), so notching six-plus Ks against a well-rounded Rangers lineup looks challenging.
