Best MLB prop bets today: SuperDraft player prop picks for Thursday 6/15 image

Thursday night's condensed seven-game slate doesn't possess a ton of marquee matchups, but baseball fans and bettors can still spice up their night by wagering on player props. Per usual, SuperDraft's released its slew of total base and strikeout props for today's MLB slate, and we're trying our hand at finding valuable props to boost your win probability. Users who sign up for SuperDraft can pick their favorite over/unders via SuperDraft's Fantasy Props feature, bringing them closer to the action while having a chance to win cash prizes.

SuperDraft users can win 3X the amount wagered if their two-legged player prop parlay hits. Consequently, the more legs you add to your player prop parlay (maximum six legs), the larger your potential payout becomes, but as the long odds indicate, completing a clean sweep will be challenging.

Below, we'll break down four of our favorite player props on SuperDraft for Thursday night's MLB slate. Users don't necessarily have to parlay all four picks together, though. Instead, you could make separate two-legged parlays to increase your win probability or attempt to hit it big if all four picks come through.

1. Carlos Correa, SS, Twins vs. Tigers - OVER 1.5 bases

Correa's amid his best stretch of the season, riding a six-game hitting streak entering the Twins' four-game weekend set against the Tigers. He's posted a .973 OPS over the past 14 days and is starting to find his groove in the middle of Minnesota's order.

While Correa's logged just 39 at-bats against lefties this season, he's recorded a respectable .803 OPS and should be able to put the ball in play against Detroit starter Matthew Boyd. Boyd ranks below the league average in strikeout rate (22.1 percent) and just surrendered two long balls to right-handed hitters in his most recent start. We'll keep riding Correa's hot streak until he cools down.

2. AJ Smith-Shawver, SP, Braves vs. Rockies - OVER 4.5 strikeouts

With the 20-year-old Smith-Shawver being a relatively unknown commodity in the betting markets, we'll take advantage of his strikeout prop sitting at an attainable 4.5 tonight in his second-career MLB start. Smith-Shawver started the season pitching in High-A ball, but he earned his promotion to the big leagues and looks to continue his impressive run by helping out an injury-ravaged Braves rotation.

His first career start against Washington went well, as he worked 5.1 innings and allowed two unearned runs on three hits in Atlanta's 3-2 win. Smith-Shawver struck out just two hitters, but not many pitchers can punch out the stingy Washington hitters, who boast the league's lowest strikeout rate. We think he'll have more success in the strikeout department tonight when facing a Rockies offense sitting 10th in strikeout rate (23.4 percent).

3. Cristian Javier, SP, Astros vs. Nationals - UNDER 5 strikeouts

Javier had one of his rougher outings last weekend against the Guardians, giving four runs on seven hits with a 3:2 K:BB rate in a 10-9 loss. We could see another similar night in the strikeout department against a stingy Nationals offense with the lowest K-rate in the bigs (18.5 percent). The Nationals offense also owns the second-lowest whiff rate (21.4 percent), so we're not sure Javier's able to sit down six-plus Nats' hitters despite the righty owning an above-average K-rate (24.8 percent).

4. Freddie Freeman, 1B, Dodgers vs. White Sox - OVER 1.5 bases

Freeman had an uncharacteristic night for his standards in the Dodgers' 8-4 loss to the White Sox, going 0-3 with two strikeouts. He's gone hitless in the first two games against White Sox, but we think the NL's third-leading hitter (.331) bounces back tonight against Chicago starter Dylan Cease.

While Cease still has electric stuff, he hasn't lived up to his billing as a Cy Young contender, entering Thursday night ranking in the eighth percentile in hard-hit rate and the 15th percentile in average exit velocity. Freeman remains in a league of his own, sitting in the 99th percentile in xBA, xSLG, and xwOBA, so it's only a matter of time until he laces his signature double in the gap. We're hoping tonight's the night he snaps his mini "cold spell" and goes OVER 1.5 bases.
