Best MLB prop bets today: SuperDraft player prop picks for Tuesday 5/16 image

Tuesday night's 15-game MLB slate is littered with intriguing matchups, from Justin Verlander's home debut against the Rays to what will likely be a pitchers duel in Houston between Justin Steele and Cristian Javier. From a prop bet perspective, there are plenty of ways to attack tonight's jam-packed slate, and we're here to guide you in the right direction. Users who sign up for SuperDraft can pick their favorite over/unders via SuperDraft's Fantasy Props feature, bringing them closer to the action while having a chance to win cash prizes.

SuperDraft users can win 3X the amount wagered if their two-legged player prop parlay hits. Consequently, the more legs you add to your player prop parlay (maximum six legs), the larger your potential payout becomes, but as the long odds indicate, completing a clean sweep will be challenging.

Below, we'll break down four of our favorite player props on SuperDraft for Tuesday's MLB slate. Users don't necessarily have to parlay all four picks together, though. Instead, you could make separate two-legged parlays to increase your win probability or attempt to hit it big if all four picks come through.

* Entry -four picks (10X) potential payout if all four legs parlayed*

1. Shane Bieber, SP, Guardians @ White Sox - OVER 5 strikeouts

Bieber's struggled in the strikeout department this season, posting a career-low 18.8 strikeout rate (27th percentile) with a K/9 of just 6.79 through eight starts. For someone who's posted a K-rate of at least 24 percent in each of his first five full seasons, we're expecting positive regression to come his way, especially after sitting down a season-best nine hitters in his most recent start against the Tigers.

Bieber's still generating a respectable 32.5 whiff rate on his curveball and a 30.3 whiff rate on his slider, his go-to put-away pitches. Against a White Sox lineup leading the league in chase rate (33 percent) while sitting fifth in whiff rate (27.5), eclipsing five-plus strikeouts is well within reach.

2. Nolan Arenado, 3B, Cardinals vs. Brewers - OVER 1.5 bases

Even though they're still sitting in last place in the NL Central, the Redbirds are catching fire and still look like the division's most complete team. Winners of seven of their past eight games, St. Louis looks to extend its winning streak to five games against the contact-heavy Wade Miley (3-2, 5.28 xFIP, 5.40 K/9).

Arenado's hot streak has helped the Redbirds get back in the thick of the NL Central, churning out 11 hits with a .833 slugging percentage over his past seven games. In 23 career at-bats against Miley, Arenado's posted a .391 average. He's also homered in four straight, and we think he maintains his power surge tonight.

3. Jarren Duran, CF, Red Sox vs. Mariners - UNDER 1.5 bases

Since making a slight adjustment to his swing by raising his hands, Duran's been a constant producer in the middle of the Red Sox order, entering Tuesday night with an impressive .440 xSLG and 44.1 hard-hit rate. That being said, we think he has trouble finding a barrel against Mariners ace Luis Castillo, who's boasting a solid 30.8 whiff rate and 28.1 strikeout rate.

Castillo utilizes his fastball at a 65-percent clip, which isn't great news for Duran, who's recorded just a .259 xBA to go along with a 23.8 whiff rate against fastballs this season. We think Castillo has the upper hand tonight, resulting in Duran failing to record two-plus bases.

4. Randal Grichuk, CF, Rockies vs. Reds - OVER 1.5 bases

Although he's had just 46 at-bats, Grichuk's slashing a superb .370/.442/.543 and has a good chance of welcoming lefthander Brandon Williamson to the big leagues with an extra-base hit in his big-league debut. With tonight's Rockies-Reds total sitting at 12.5, plenty of offense is expected between two teams who combined for 17 runs and 24 hits in Monday's series opener.

Grichuk's slotted in the four-hole tonight and looks to take advantage of Williamson, who's posted a sub-par 6.18 xFIP and a 1.85 HR/9 rate this season in Triple-A Louisville.
