MLB awards finalists: Cubs, Indians players headline baseball's annual honors image

As the cliche goes, "to the victors go the spoils," and that perfectly describes the scenario for baseball's 2016 award nominations,

The World Series champion Cubs and runner-up Indians were prominent among the nominations for the MVP, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year and Manager of the Year awards. Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager was nominated for both the National League MVP and Rookie of the Year.

The Baseball Writers' Association of America announced the nominees Monday evening on MLB Network.

The winners of the awards will be announced later this month, beginning with Rookie of the Year on Nov. 14, followed by Manager of the Year on Nov. 15; Cy Young Award on Nov. 16; and Most Valuable Player on Nov. 17.
