Take your base, Bartolo. You've earned power-hitter respect.

Yes, for the first time in his 19-year MLB career, beloved portly Mets hurler Bartolo Colon drew a walk Monday against the Diamondbacks.

The giver of the seven-pitch free pass was Arizona pitcher Robbie Ray, who was obviously fearful of Colon's home run prowess and preferred to face leadoff batter Jose Reyes instead.

The walk came three months after the 43-year-old Colon slugged his first career home run. Power, and now on-base savvy. It's never too late to up your game.
