Aroldis Chapman traded to Cubs in blockbuster deal with Yankees, report says image

The Cubs have agreed to acquire flame-throwing lefty relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman from the Yankees for four players, according to various reports.

The Yankees will get shortstop Gleyber Torres, the Cubs No. 1 prospect, as well as pitcher Adam Warren, outfield prospects Billy McKinney and Rashad Crawford. That's a significant haul for a relief pitcher who will be a free agent at season's end.

Chapman, 28, is the hardest-throwing pitcher in baseball and one of the top closers. He is 3-0 with a 2.01 ERA and 20 saves this season. His arrival in Chicago likely would push Héctor Rondon to a set-up role.

He comes with plenty of baggage, though. He served a 30-game suspension to start the season following an October in incident in which he was accused of choking his girlfriend and firing eight gunshots.

Torres, 19, is hitting .275 with a .359 on-base percentage and .791 OPS. He has nine home runs and 23 doubles in 94 games with the High-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans. The native of Venezuela was ranked as the 28th best prospect in the game coming into the season.

McKinney, 21, was MLB.com's No. 88 prospect. He is hitting.252/.355/.322 with one home run for Double-A Tennessee.
