Burnett was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Friday with inflammation in his right elbow. Concerns grew that his UCL was torn and that he would need Tommy John surgery, but it was the flexor that was inflamed.

Burnett struggled in July, posting a 5.84 ERA in six starts. He entered the month with a 2.01 ERA, but began his time on the DL with a 3.06 ERA.
