Aaron Hicks injury update: Yankees outfielder to be activated vs. Orioles image

Aaron Hicks is getting ready to make his regular-season debut.

The Yankees center fielder officially will be returning to the majors Monday, when the team hosts the Orioles, according to team manager Aaron Boone.

Hicks, 29, has been sidelined since spring training when he complained of back discomfort. However, he's been with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for his rehab assignment, where he hit his first home run of the season Saturday.

Hicks was 0-for-14 on his rehab assignment before the at-bat, but Scranton manager Jay Bell said Saturday that he could tell Hicks was "close" to his return.

Hicks' return will be welcomed, since the Yankees are still missing key starters. Aaron Judge (oblique) and Giancarlo Stanton (shoulder) still are out for the foreseeable future.

The Yankees announced further good news Sunday, revealing Chad Green had been recalled from his minor league assignment. He could serve in the Yankees' relief effort against the Rays.
