Yankees on wrong side of history as Red Sox break stolen base record image

The New York Yankees found themselves on the wrong side of history Sunday night, allowing the Boston Red Sox to steal nine bases in a single game for the first time in franchise history.

The Yankees themselves haven't allowed nine steals in a game since May 19, 1915.

It's one thing for a team to be aggressive on the basepaths if they feel there are ample chances. This is clearly the Red Sox identifying a tell and exploiting it with extreme aggressiveness.

The Red Sox identified early that they could run on Jose Trevino and the Yankees pitching staff. The Yankees simply had no answer and found themselves on the wrong side of history.

Despite winning the first game of the series, the Yankees received a wake-up call by dropping the final two games of the series in what was a pretty dominating effort by the Red Sox.

Allowing them to set the single-game franchise record for stolen bases will certainly serve as bulletin board material for the rest of the season.
