The New York Yankees were heavily in the market for relief pitchers at the Major League Baseball trade deadline.

While they wound up adding two bullpen arms just over a month ago before the deadline, the Yankees reportedly had their sights set on other arms across the league.

It was reported that the Yankees tried to trade for Miami Marlins All-Star Tanner Scott before they learned they would have had to part ways with one of their top prospects.

Scott wasn't the only Marlins reliever the Yankees tried to add, though.

According to Jon Heyman of The New York Post, the Yankees also tried to add lefty A.J. Puk as a part of the trade package that included star Jazz Chisholm.

Puk wound up going to the Arizona Diamondbacks in a deadline trade, and he's been dominant ever since he arrived in the desert.

The 29-year-old has a stellar 0.56 ERA with 26 strikeouts and two walks in 16 innings across 18 appearances.

The Yankees opted to go for Mark Leiter Jr., who has struggled immensely to find a groove, and Enyel De Los Santos, who was designated for assignment just two weeks after being acquired.
