New York Yankees superstar Juan Soto was initially in the lineup but was scratched before Friday night's game against the Oakland Athletics.

Soto gave the fanbase quite the scare Thursday against the Seattle Mariners when he crashed into the wall down the first base line to make a catch.

While Soto played the rest of the game, the Yankees made sure to get imaging Friday before the series opener against the Athletics.

X-rays came back negative, which is encouraging, and Soto was initially in the lineup for Friday night's game.

However, Soto was scratched due to soreness and swelling. It was reported that Soto is available off the bench.

Even though the Yankees are still competing for the top spot in the American League East, they need to be smart with Soto considering they already clinched a playoff spot.

Soto means too much for the Yankees to risk him if he's not 100% healthy so this will be something to monitor.
