Yankees' Gerrit Cole was heated after pitch clock violation between innings image

New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole had plenty of gripe for a pitch clock violation that occurred between innings.

Because of the violation, Cole started the second inning with a 1-0 count against Cleveland Guardians outfielder Jhonkensy Noel, who eventually walked on three pitches after the violation.

It isn't clear whether Cole was given the violation for too many pitches in between innings or for taking too long to warm up, but he clearly wasn't happy with the call from home-plate umpire Derek Thomas.

Cole wound up working around the leadoff walk, but he still had some choice words for Thomas after the inning ended.

It's the second time this season Cole has been charged with a pitch clock violation before the start of an inning. The other time it happened was on July 19 against the Tampa Bay Rays.
