Yankees vs Dodgers final score, results: New York limps to 2-1 loss in extras image

The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers put on quite the show Friday night in the Bronx, resulting in the latter snapping New York's eight-game winning streak with a 2-1 victory.

Kicking off the highly-anticipated weekend series at Yankee Stadium, the matchup didn't disappoint. Despite the juggernaut offenses making up both sides, we found ourselves in a classic pitcher's duel.

Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto was immaculate, tossing 7.0 scoreless innings allowing two hits, no runs, two walks and seven strike outs on 107 pitches.

The Yankees countered with Cody Poteet, who made his second start since Clarke Schmidt went on the injured list. He put together a solid line of 4.2 innings pitched allowing no runs, two hits and three walks while striking out one. He threw 84 pitches and lowered his season ERA to 1.72.

It was a struggle for both offenses all night. The Dodgers didn't get a runner to third base until they broke the scoreless tie in the top of the 11th inning. Meanwhile, the Yankees only recorded five hard hits.

The Yankees certainly had their chances. The game was tied 0-0 in the bottom of the 10th inning. Jahmai Jones was the automatic runner at second base, but Trent Grisham failed to get the sac bunt down to move him over to third base. Jose Trevino and Anthony Volpe then popped out.

The Dodgers took advantage in the top of the 11th inning with a two RBI double from Teoscar Hernandez, which scored Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman.

Without Juan Soto in the lineup, the Yankees scored the fewest runs in a game since April 29.

Aaron Judge came through with an RBI single in the bottom of the 11th, but that's all the Yankees would get. Judge and Volpe both extended their on-base streaks to 33 games.
