New York Yankees prospect ends season with unfortunate injury image

New York Yankees outfielder Everson Pereira, one of the organization's top prospects, will miss the remainder of the season due to an elbow injury.

The 23-year-old prospect recently underwent internal brace surgery to repair a torn UCL in his throwing elbow, effectively ending his 2024 season.

Pereira had been dealing with some elbow discomfort in his right arm while playing with the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders.

Considered one of the top prospects in the organization, Pereira was hitting .265 with 10 home runs, 27 RBI and a .858 OPS in 40 games at Triple-A this season.

As a September call-up toward the end of the 2023 season, Pereira appeared in 27 games for the Yankees. He struggled to the tune of a .151 batting average and .427 OPS during his 103 plate appearances.

Pereira had some potential trade value for the Yankees this summer, but that value likely shrinks considering the lengthy recovery time to come back from a torn UCL.

It's an unfortunate end to what had been a promising season for Pereira, who now will focus on recovering for the 2025 season.
