New York Yankees infielder Jon Berti was placed on the 10-day injured list due to the calf injury he suffered Friday night against the San Diego Padres.
Berti suffered the injury during the top of the ninth inning when trying to run out a hit. He immediately fell to the ground taking his first steps out of the batter's box.
A trip to the injured list was expected for Berti, but it's unclear what the severity of the injury looks like.
With Berti on the reserve list, the Yankees selected Kevin Smith to the active roster as a corresponding move.
