The New York Yankees are expected to be active in the market when the MLB Trade Deadline comes around with a focus on improving first base.

There have been plenty of names linked to the Yankees as potential trade candidates, including slugger Pete Alonso from the crosstown rival Mets.

In listing the top landing spots for Alonso, Bleacher Report's Zach Rymer proposed a blockbuster deal between the Yankees and Mets that sends a top pitching prospect to Queens in exchange for the Polar Bear.

Here's what that trade proposal looks like:

Yankees get: 1B Pete Alonso, RHP Adam Ottavino, cash considerations

Mets get: RHP Chase Hampton

Parting with Hampton might be a tough sell for the Yankees' brass. Even though Hampton hasn't made his minor league debut yet this season due to a UCL sprain, he's currently the top pitching prospect and the No. 4 prospect in the organization.

With that said, Adding a bat like Alonso's while reuniting with Ottavino to add some high-powered swing-and-miss stuff seems like exactly what the Yankees need right now.

Ottavino's 5.19 ERA entering Monday is concerning, but his numbers are much better when we dig deeper. His expected ERA is 2.86 while his strikeout percentage is in the 92nd percentile and his whiff rate is in the 72nd percentile.

The severity of the injury to Anthony Rizzo isn't quite clear yet, but there have been discussions about moving on from the fan-favorite regardless due to his struggles at the plate this season.

Alonso would be a half-year rental before likely re-signing with the Mets in free agency. But it would significantly improve what has been a weak spot in the order for the majority of the season.

Alonso is having a down year by his terms with a decrease in exit velocity, walk percentage and hard hit percentage, but a change of scenery might benefit both him and the Yankees even if for half of a season.
