Pirates rookie starting pitcher Paul Skenes is electric. He showed off that electricity in the first inning by blowing away Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani for a strikeout. Their second encounter didn't go as well for the first-year flamethrower.

Ohtani got a 3-2 fastball at 100 MPH a little up and a little in, and the reigning American League MVP didn't miss it. He crushed the pitch to straightaway centerfield at PNC Park. MLB's tracking data estimated the ball went 415 feet.

For Ohtani that marked his 15th long ball of the season. The two-run blast cut into a hefty Pirates lead and made the game 7-2 in the bottom of the third.
