The Dodgers on Thursday night during their game vs. the Pirates announced a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates. In exchange for cash considerations, the Dodgers acquired left-handed reliever Jose Hernandez. Los Angeles in a corresponding move transferred RHP Ryan Brasier to the 60-day IL.
Hernandez, 26, appeared in seven games for the Pirates this season. He sported a 1-1 record with a 3.38 ERA. Last year he pitched in 50 games for Pittsburgh as a rookie and posted a 1-3 record and a 4.97 ERA in 50.2 innings.
This is the second minor move LA made during the week. They also acquired utilityman Cavan Biggio in a trade with the Rangers.
LA still figures to be active at the trade deadline, but these moves on the margins should help bolster their overall depth until a bigger deal and beyond..
