MLB needed one more player to fill out its 2024 Home Run Derby field and Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez answered the call.
Hernandez is sitting at 19 home runs entering play on July 10, putting him on pace for a career-high 34 long balls. Overall he's tied for 12th in all of MLB and he's fifth in the National League in homers.
This will be his first Home Run Derby, and he'll be alongside Mets first baseman Pete Alonso, Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm, Braves designated hitter Marcell Ozuna, Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr., Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson, Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez and Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia.
The Home Run Derby will begin July 15 at 5:00pm Pacific Time at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Hernandez in 10 career games at Globe Life Park has just one home run in 37 at-bats.
