The Dodgers offense woke up early Thursday against the Pirates. Back-to-back singles by Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani brought up Freddie Freeman with two on and no outs. Freeman needed just one pitch to give the Dodgers a 3-0 lead.
Pirates starter Bailey Falter dealt a fastball low and in to Freeman and the Dodgers first basemen dropped the bat head on it and smoked a line drive homer to right field. His eighth homer of the year had an exit velocity of 109.7 MPH, although it looked more like 209.7 off the bat.
Freeman has now hit safely in five consecutive games and has home runs in two of his last four contests.
