Dodgers vs. Yankees: Is another pitchers duel in the works for Game 2? image

The highly-anticipated series opener between the Dodgers and Yankees didn't disappoint. A pitchers duel erupted between Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Yankees starter Cody Poteet and Los Angeles escaped with a 2-1 win in 11 innings.

There could be another pitchers duel in store Saturday when Gavin Stone takes the mound for the Dodgers against Yankees starter Nestor Cortes.

Stone has been outstanding this season. He's allowed more than one run just once in his last seven starts, and he hasn't given up a run in either of his last two outings. Still, LA will enter Saturday evening's showdown as the underdogs vs. the American League's best team.

Here's what the betting lines look like for Saturday:

Run line

Dodgers +1.5: -190
Yankees -1.5: +155

Moneyline

Dodgers: +105
Yankees: -125

Total

Over 8.5 runs: -120
Under 8.5 runs: +100

Prediction

We leaned into the Dodgers' offensive comeback in Friday's pick and failed miserably. Alas, we'll be doing the same thing again for Saturday's game.

Neither LA nor New York hit the ball well in their 11-inning rock fight, and both Stone and Cortez have been good on the mound this year. Still, it's tough to imagine both offenses faceplanting for a second consecutive game.

It wouldn't be a shock if Stone gives up a few runs in a small regression from his last several starts. And Cortez isn't exactly unhittable on the other side. The problem for LA is once New York's offense starts churning, it's really hard to slow down. Particularly at Yankee Stadium. We'll take the Yankees on the moneyline with the over.

Yankees 6, Dodgers 5
