Dodgers vs. Yankees: LA favored to open possible World Series preview image

The Dodgers' offensive outburst against the Pirates on Thursday offered a reminder of how dominant Los Angeles can be following a long cold streak at the plate. It was also enough to make them the Game 1 favorites over the Yankees when Yoshinobu Yamamoto takes the mound for the Dodgers against Cody Poteet.

Here's what the lines look like according to BetMGM:

Run line

Dodgers -1.5: +125
Yankees +1.5: -150

Money line

Dodgers: -135
Yankees: +115

Total

Over 9 runs: -105
Under 9 runs: -115

Prediction

We're ice cold right now! Part of the reason is we've needed to see the Dodgers offense start to come around more before we were willing to believe they were out of their offensive rut. It looks like they're out of it now.

In their last two games LA has posted 17 runs on 25 hits. They've also gone 9-for-24 (.375 average) with runners in scoring position in those games and cranked five home runs in those contests.

With Yamamoto on the hill there's a great opportunity for the Dodgers to finally marry a strong offensive game with a great pitching performance, and we're expecting them to do that Friday night. Give us the Dodgers on the moneyline and the over.

Dodgers 6, Yankees 4
