There are just a few weeks to go until the 2024 Major League Baseball regular season comes to an end.
There are teams fighting for playoff positions right now and others just trying to stay healthy down the stretch. The Los Angeles Dodgers widely are considered to be among the favorites to represent the National League in the World Series this fall.
While this is the case, even they could use a boost despite their star power. One suggestion that has been made is that the Dodgers could call up top prospect Dalton Rushing, according to Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter.
"The Los Angeles Dodgers has a history of introducing their top prospects to the big leagues as September call-ups, with Corey Seager (2015), Walker Buehler (2017), Alex Verdugo (2017) and Gavin Lux (2019) all getting their first taste of the majors after rosters expanded," Reuter said. "Dalton Rushing is making a compelling case to join that group.
"The 23-year-old is hitting .284/.418/.511 with five doubles, five home runs, and 17 RBI since he was promoted to Triple-A on Aug. 6, and he has been playing almost exclusively left field after getting most of his reps at catcher and designated hitter in Double-A."
At this point, adding Rushing to the mix down the stretch wouldn't hurt. He could get a look at the big leagues in a small and controlled sample size before the postseason. Then, the Dodgers could decide whether or not to include him in postseason action.
