The Dodgers are adding an exciting, young international prospect. According to a report from Francys Romero, Los Angeles is set to sign 17-year-old Taiwanese outfield prospect Ko Ching-Hsien. Romero reported the deal comes with a $700,000 bonus and leaves LA with just over $3 million left in their international pool money. The signing is not yet official.
Ching-Hsien, a left-handed hitter, hit .550 with a whopping 1.440 OPS at the 2023 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup for Chinese-Taipei. In his 20 at-bats he posted one double, one home run, seven walks and three strikeouts.
There's plenty to be excited about with Ching-Hsien given that kind of production and the Dodgers' player-development system. They'll also be getting him at an age where he can grow into his tools.
It'll be a long road for Ching-Hsien to eventually make it to the Majors, but his name will be one to keep an eye on in the Dodgers system over the next couple of years because all signs point to him having all the tools to be an excellent player.
