The Dodgers are set to acquire infielder Cavan Biggio in a trade with the Blue Jays according to a report from ESPN's Jeff Passan. Los Angeles will send minor leagu relief pitcher Braydon Fisher to Toronto in the deal.

Biggio was designated for assignment last week following a rough start to the 2024 season where he's batting just .200 with a .323 on-base percentage and a .291 slugging percentage in 44 games.

The struggles for the 29-year-old Biggio have been stacking up for the last several seasons. After finishing fifth in the American League Rookie of the Year voting in 2019, Biggio hasn't been able to put it together as a Major Leaguer. Since 2020 he's slashing just .225/.336/.367 with 32 home runs in 390 games and 1,331 plate appearances. A more concerning trend is that his walk rate has dipped every year and after a 16.5 percent walk rate as a rookie, the number has plummeted to 10.7 percent this year. His strikeout rate of 32.1 percent this season is the highest of his career.

A change of scenery might be what Biggio needs and he can give the Dodgers some depth at almost any position. He has 444.0 MLB innings at first base, 1,930.0 at second base and 574.2 at third base. He's also logged 663.2 outfield innings.

Fisher, 23, is 18-14 with a 4.53 ERA in 134 games and 228.2 innings in the minors. This season his ERA has ballooned to 5.68 while splitting time between Double-A and Triple-A.
